Steve Lacy Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom Concert reviews
must see this legend!
The show could have gone 2 hours, for $150, especially for a guy who's almost 70 but still has stamina. He sang all the great songs, including the "sing along"/dance in your seat songs at the beginning. Several times, he went off stage to change costumes while the band played or the backup singers sang. Even though he didn't have much vocal range when he was younger, he, like everyone else over 40, lost the upper range, so he rearranged the vocalization of many songs to accommodate his limited range. But that raspy voice is still going strong! Sang a few songs that weren't all that well known. I would have liked to walk out of the venue dancing, but all the dance-y songs were at the beginning. If someone of this legendariness is coming to Youngstown, I'm going! Also saw Elton John at the same venue, and Earth Wind and Fire along with Youngstown Symphony. Please, please, bring the Boss! Hour and 40 minutes.
